Mitch Lucker Commemoration During Outbreak Tour

On November 1, 2012, the metalcore community lost an important member in the music scene. Mitch Lucker, lead vocalist of Suicide Silence, passed away of a motorcycle accident that day.

His band was supposed to open for Asking Alexandria as part of Monster’s Outbreak tour starting November 16. But, after hearing about Lucker’s death, the headlining band, Asking Alexandria, decided to dedicate the tour and some of the profits to Mitch Lucker’s family. Suicide Silence’s spot was then filled with the new and upcoming band I See Stars.

The tour stopped in Chicago and performed at the Congress Theater on December 2. When it was time for the headlining band, Asking Alexandria, to play they did their set list and about halfway into their set, the lead vocalist, Danny Warsnop, took the time to talk to the crowd.

Warsnop said, “as you all may know one of our beloved friends passed away earlier this month, which is why we are dedicating this tour to him, Mitch Lucker. We all love and miss you Mitch, so here’s this song for you.”

They then went ahead and played their song “Someone, Somewhere” as a tribute to Lucker.

He went on to say that, “it’s sad to think that we would have shared this stage with Mitch and Suicide Silence. Even though he has passed away we are going to give him his time on this stage tonight. If you all know these lyrics I want you scream along!”

Right after saying this, Suicide Silence’s hit single, “You Only Live Once,” from their latest album, The Black Crown, was played through the speakers for everyone to enjoy.
