App Developers Club ready for new year

Sandy Sanchez, Reporter

“I want to be a billionaire so freaking bad,” are more than just music lyrics to the members of the App Developers Club, a group of dedicated kids hoping to make big bucks from their creative apps.

Off to a powerful start with 10 students, 2 running apps, and meetings every Wednesday in the library, the App Developers Club is proving to Leyden that it doesn’t mess around and neither does its sponsor: Ms. Linda Smith! Smith herself is in the business of developing apps for the Apple and Android markets. She has published three iPhone apps and one Android app. Because of this work, she has connections to a broad network of possible speakers and is a member of two developer communities, both of which she hopes to share with club members.

Already the club has created two apps as a group: KittyPurr and PaintPot. If the names themselves don’t attract you, then be assured the app is worthy of a try. A club representative said, “We are working on a game called Mole Mash next.”

Other interested students may talk to Jose Sifuentes or Ms. Smith.
