The Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) is a test that students in English 1 and/or Algebra 1 will be taking for up to 10 hours testing during March. After the Performance Based Assessment in March, towards the end of April will be an End of Year Assessment, which will take place over the course of four days. In the performance based assessment there are three sections of the English test and two of the Math test. The end of year assessment has two English sections and two Math sections. Students who are currently in English 1 College Prep, Honors, or Academy will be taking that test. Students in Algebra 1 College Prep, Honors, or Block will be taking that test. If students fall in both categories they will be taking both tests.

Some will test in the morning and some in the afternoon.

According to Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, the schedule for the PARCC test was difficult to arrange, and some details are still being decided.

Dr. Storaasli explained, “The PARCC test [replaces] the PSAE test this year. The state gives you a range of dates that you can pick from to test in. Both parts of the test are designed to be online, which is one issue because the whole system is all brand new.  For this reason, we decided to break up the students in two sections. This whole test is about 10 hours and that doesn’t even take into account the actual time of getting students in the room, set up, and getting the instructions out.”
