The faculty football game was yet another success, raising an outstanding $3,650 dollars!

East Leyden’s Sports Entertainment Marketing teacher Sally Lakdawala was thrilled with the positive turnout.

“It was great to see everyone participating.”

Having such a great turnout for the faculty football game created many donations not only from ticket sales, but also from other additional activities

“All the money has been raised from not only ticket sales but also t shirt sales, concessions and face painting,” Lakdawala said.

All money is being sent to the Northern Indiana Service Dogs organization for the purchase of Jennifer, a 34 pound mixed breed who will ultimately help senior Kasey Scotella in obtaining greater independence from her condition. Scotella will be eligible to receive her once Jennifer is fully trained in the spring of 2014.

Ms. Lakdawala noted that the next opportunity to help Scotella will be next week.

“On Tuesday, October 15 we made an agreement with the Pot Bellys in Northlake where from 3:30 to 7 p.m.  25% of all Potbelly profit will be donated towards Casey.”

So those interested in helping can swing by and enjoy your favorite sandwich while helping Scotella at the same time

Those who cannot attend Tuesday’s fundraisers are still welcome to donate.

“The community may give donations by sending checks or money to Leyden High School.” Adding that “we have articles posted in newspapers and flyers being handed out around the community.”
