Eagle Wrestlers Dedicated For The “W”

Everyone get ready because wrestling season is back!

Wrestling season is back and the Leyden Wrestling team is now at an overall record of 4 and 6.

Head coach Mike Fummagalli seems to be very satisfied with his team’s progress this year.

“We were 7-11 last year and had a lot of difficulties with kids focusing, this year everyone’s focused. I think we will have great potential.”

He mentioned that one of the team’s biggest achievements this year was “beating Morton who was undefeated… that was our goal since day one.”

As he continues to help wrestlers stay focused he noted how his strategies differ noting that “it could be motivating kids one day or telling a kid to push harder because he’s being too soft another.”

Captain Dominick Miro agreed that it’s a big year and “we have a lot of great talent, [and] state positions are going to be all up for grabs.”

Some wrestlers who have already begun to stand out include “Anthony Lonigro and Ryan Soch [who] have been working hard, they deserve the best.”

Senior night will be Saturday, January 30, when the guys take on the Hinsdale South Hornets.
