Must See Scary Movies

Bring out the popcorn, turn out the lights and enjoy these horror films which are sure to get you ready for this Halloween season.

Halloween

hh1

After being committed for 17 years, Michael Myers, now a grown man and still very dangerous, escapes from the mental institution that he was committed to as a 10 year old. He immediately returns to Haddonfield, where he wants to find his baby sister, Laurie. Anyone who crosses his path is in mortal danger.

Halloween is a classic in the horror movie genre. It is definitely a movie to see before you die. Everyone knows of Michael Myers, if you’ve seen the movie or not. I think it’s just one of those movies that you have to see, whether you’re into scary or not.

The Last House on the Left

After kidnapping and brutally assaulting two young women a gang, led by a prison escapee, unknowingly finds refuge at a vacation home belonging the parents of one of their victims.  The mother and father then devise an increasingly gruesome series of revenge tactics in the hopes of saving their daughter’s life.

The Last House on the Left  is definitely one of my Top 5 scary movies because of the intensity of the actors. The entire movie had me at the edge of my seat. At some points I even felt like I was in the movie with the actors feeling what they felt.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre

In the 2003 remake, directed by Marcus Nispel, after picking up a traumatized young hitchhiker, five friends find themselves stalked and hunted by a deformed chainsaw-wielding killer and his family of equally psychopathic killers.

This movie is in my Top 5 simply because it’s a classic. When anyone says the name Texas Chainsaw Massacre, most people immediately recognize the title and have seen it at some point in their life. It’s another one that’ll keep you on your toes throughout.

 It

In 1960, a group of social outcasts are tormented by an evil demon who can shape shift into a clown. It feeds on children’s fears and ultimately kills them. After confronting the demonic clown as kids it resurfaces 30 years later, and they must reunite to finish it off now as adults.

It is a classic phobia movie. I myself am terrified of clowns, so watching this movie was definitely a mistake. But, it was horrifying, in a good way. If you’re afraid of clowns and want to be scared, this is definitely the movie to see.

Evil Dead

Five friends head to a remote cabin, where the discovery of a Book of the Dead leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. An evil presence possesses them until only one is left to fight for survival.

Evil Dead is everything you want in a horror film: it’s bloody, gory, and disgusting all in a good way. It never fails to keep that element of suspense and eeriness throughout the film. The filming was also well done as many of the scenes seem pretty realistic despite being released in 1981.
