Beneath the sound of typing and sighs, the sounds of sweet laughter fills the room- fashion, French, and playing roblox are all what makes Tavey. . .Tavey!
Tavey Tran, a West Leyden Senior, is proud of her role in the French club. As club president, she makes sure that everyone is included and makes the room laugh with every witty comment. Her inspiration to take French comes from her brother and her love for fashion. “My brother was like, ‘you have to take two years of a language’ and at the time, I wanted to do fashion design as a career. So I took French.” Although Tavey didn’t initially want to take a language class, she’s forever grateful that her brother convinced her.
Tavey continued her journey after her first year of French. She was committed once she finished French 2, “the class was so much fun and Ms. Kirkus motivated me to continue and so I did.”
One day after school, her world changed. “I decided to come here after school, and I really liked the group that was in here, so I thought to myself ‘oh, I’ll continue coming after school.’ Then there was a French field trip and I went.” Tavey expresses how happy she was that she decided to come that one afternoon and makes it clear to everyone that they should take a language course and join the French club.
