Ski and Snowboarding Club

Ski and Snowboard club expected to go strong again this year as one of Leyden’s great clubs opens to all students.

The Ski and Snowboard club starts in the early winter according to club sponsor Marcy Kinnane.

The club is open to all students, no experience needed.

“It’s a great club for anyone involved with Snowboarding or Skiing, new or veteran,” Mrs. Kinnane added.

The club attends three main trips during the season.

“Once we’re well into the season, we take a trip almost every other Saturday,” Mrs. Kinnane said.

The price varies per trip but “usually stays around $60,” said Rob Gussy, a sophomore and veteran member of the club.

“Most of the people are in the club are very passionate about Skiing or Snowboarding, which makes it really fun,” Gussy added.

Members new to Snowboarding or Skiing are required to take a lesson on the first trip, “but anyone is eligible to go,” Mrs. Kinnane added.

The club has about 20 members from East and 10 members from West. Membership is expected to stay about the same throughout this year with a fairly even diversity between skiers and snowboarders.

For those Leyden students still skeptical about joining the club Mrs. Kinnane said “tt really is a lot of fun for everyone who joins, and could turn into a lifelong hobby to enjoy for the rest of your life.”

You can find Mrs. Kinnane in room 139 before and after school if you need more information about the club or might be interested in joining.
