High fives, making a kill, and hearing that final whistle. This is the life of senior Julia Radziszewski. Julia Radziszewski has stuck with the game of volleyball since the fourth grade, when she first discovered her love for the sport. Julia reminisces to her freshman year, “Being moved up as a freshman was exciting and rewarding, knowing the coaches believed in me,” Julia said. Her coaches and personality helped her improve, especially when she had to learn a new position. She says, “It was tough learning new skills, but in the end I learned the importance of volleyball and the different positions that play into a team,” says Julia. One highlight that stands out above the rest was the team’s victory at the Elgin tournament. “A moment I won’t forget is winning the Elgin tournament. The team was at its peak, and we showed our potential in that tournament.” Sometimes it’s not always easy. Julia says, “The hardest thing in volleyball to face is forgetting about your mistakes and trying to fix them for the next point, as well as taking accountability for your mistakes.” Julia won’t play next year but her friendships will last. “The friendships I made with the upperclassmen had a huge impact on me as a player and a person,” she reflected. “Because of them, I grew into a more focused, determined, and encouraging player for my teammates.” Now that Volleyball season has ended Julia Radziszewski will continue to keep close the friendships she’s made from volleyball throughout her life.
