Recently someone created a Facebook account impersonating Jason Markey, Principal of East Leyden High School. The reason we are communicating this to students and parents is because it has come to our attention that this person has attempted to “friend” and have inappropriate conversations with students at both East and West Leyden High Schools.

We have talked to the students and parents that we know are involved, but we want to make sure that you have the opportunity to speak to your son or daughter about the importance of who they are communicating with online. We are particularly concerned in this case because the nature of some of the conversations has prompted Mr. Markey to file an official complaint with the Franklin Park Police.

This Friday on our video announcements to students, Mr. Markey will be sharing more about the situation and especially how this can be something we can all learn from to make sure our students are safe online.
