Homecoming Game: Leyden Eagles Looking for a Repeat Victory Against Morton

School is back in session which means Friday night football games are back too!

One of the most memorable football games of the year is the annual Homecoming football game, which this year will be located at the West Leyden football field on Friday, September 28th at 7:30 p.m. where Leyden plans to triumph against the Morton Mustangs.

Last year’s homecoming game against the Morton Mustangs was a big victory for Leyden with an ending score of 28-13.

Yet, Leyden football players say that they treat every game, including the homecoming game the same.

“Our philosophy is we get good at what we do and we’re better than the other team,” head coach Tom Cerasani said.

Varsity prepares for games with a set routine of practices four days out of the week to make sure they are fit and ready to “GO HARD” as senior Javier Rhodes, who plays tight-end/defensive tackle said.

As of this year, Leyden’s football team has played 5 games, which have lead to 4 wins and 1 loss so far. This past Friday Leyden played a tough match against Hinsdale South which ended with Leyden winning 17-14.

The varsity team seems to have high expectations against Morton for this year as well.

Although Morton is always a good team “we expect to win!” coach Cerasani exclaimed.
