It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year For Your Wallet

You are running frantically through the mall, wallet in hand, elbowing people, wanting to spend your hard earned money on that TV marked at 60% off. Finally making it into the store, breathing hard and your Thanksgiving dinner coming up, the last TV on sale comes into sight. Your eyes lock with another customer’s with the same intention. All your effort has come down to this moment. Will the energy you have left be enough for you to dive and scoop up the TV?

Black Friday is upon us again, and if you like saving money then it is for you. It’s the one day of the year where the whole store is up for grabs. With angry, aggressive moms and dads pushing into each other, no product is safe. The term “Black Friday” started out in 1951 by the Factory Management and Maintenance Journal where it was referred to “black” because workers would take off the Friday after Thanksgiving in order to have a three-day weekend. Today, ironically, it marks an early end to the holiday for many employees and the unofficial beginning of the Christmas shopping season. Stores have their biggest sales of the year, giving shoppers a head start on their quest for holiday presents. In the early 2000s, stores would open up at the break of dawn, but in recent years, have started opening up as early as 10:00 pm on Thanksgiving Day.

Almost every store has a sale on Black Friday, but if you want the best bang for your buck, your best bet is to go to a mall. The Fashion Outlets of Chicago, located in Rosemont, Illinois, targets the upscale market and is  is open at 10:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving night and is open until 10:00 p.m. on Black Friday. Tommy Hilfiger and U.S. Polo Assn are just two of the high-end stores within this mall. Tommy Hilfiger will have 50% off on select items and U.S Polo Assn. will have polo shirts starting at $14.99, jeans starting for $19.99, and solid shirts 3 for $24.99. The opportunity has finally come when you can buy designer clothes and show off to your friends. They don’t have to know that you didn’t pay full price!

Woodfield Mall, located in Schaumburg will be where I will be spending my Black Friday. This mall is home to 300 stores targeting all markets. It is open at 6:00 p.m. on Thanksgiving day and open l 10:00 p.m. on Black Friday. Zumiez will have 50% off on select items and Apple will have $600 off of the 15.4 inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. Go out and buy that GI Joe figure or the new Barbie for your sibling. It doesn’t matter who you are buying for, just don’t let these sales go to waste.
