First Catering Event of the Year

Advanced Catering is a hands-on class that allows students the opportunity to experience the some of the ins and outs of a catering business.

This past week was their first event of the school year, lunch for the College Fair.

The catering students prepared and served lunch on September 12 to college representatives from all over Illinois.

The menu included a variety of foods such as deli wraps, pasta salad, fruit salad, chocolate chip cookies, and cinnamon roasted pretzels.

The catering event was run by the students and they handled all the set-up and take-down just like a real catering establishment or restaurant.

Students can get involved in the class by first taking Culinary basics; which teaches the basics of food preparation. Then, students take Pastry chef and Cuisine chef; which handles Javaccino.

Once students have passed those three cooking classes they are eligible to enroll in Advanced Catering where they are able to get hands on catering skills.
