On Friday, February 8, the Leydenettes dance team hosted a Lil’ Leydenette’s Clinic.
25 girls showed up, from grades 3rd thru 8th grade, to perform a simple dance routine to showcase during halftime at the boys varsity basketball game.
Practice took place in the East dance studio from 4:30 pm until around 7 pm. After being taught the routine and practicing it for a while, the girls took a break and ate pizza before practicing a couple more times in preparation for their upcoming performance.
Finally halftime arrived and it was show time for the little girls. Despite some initial confusion from the crowd, it quickly turned to excitement once the halftime show commenced and the girls, together with the Leydenettes, took to the floor.
The little Leydenettes wowed the crowd with their dance techniques as well as cute presence on the court. All their hard work and practice before the show paid off and the crowed roared when the halftime show was over.
“Overall the clinic went really, better than anticipated,” stated assistant coach Michelle Marchese.
The Leydenettes will be doing this again next year during the boys basketball season for any little girls who might be interested.
“It was a wonderful fundraiser, it’s a good way to get the Leyden name outside and get girls interested in dance,” Ms. Marchese said.

Its very interesting to see that they performed in the halftime show. I think it a nice way for them to get involved.

I like this article, it’s very detailed and very interesting. I didn’t know that any 3rd-8th grade girls can do it, I just thought it was the siblings of the Leydenettes. Good work with this article! 🙂
