From a shared bus stop to matching hoodies, Aleksandra Piaszczynski and Olivia Brodowski’s friendship has lasted longer than most students can remember. The two first became friends in kindergarten and have stayed close for more than 13 years, proving that some friendships only grow stronger with time. Aleksandra and Olivia have been close friends for over 13 years and have grown up side by side. Their friendship lasted through school changes, new friendships, and personal challenges. Despite these changes, the two have continued to have a constant presence in each other’s lives. Their bond has stayed supportive and understanding, even as their lives changed.
Their early connection quickly turned into a very close bond, connecting their families. “We were both in the same grade, she was Polish, she spoke Polish, I spoke Polish,” Aleksandra said, “Also, our parents clicked too, so we were always at each other’s houses, and the bond grew from there.”
As years passed, they grew up, but their friendship stayed the same. In three words, Aleksandra said their friendship is “Strong, funny, understanding…We like different things, but we still always somehow find similarities in the differences we have.”
No matter how life changed, the amount of time spent together never did. “We literally would always hang out every single day, and we still do. We’re always together. We’re like attached by the hip, sisters by choice, not by blood,” said Aleksandra.
Their closeness also shows in small everyday details that have become their second nature-shopping trips, shared activities, and shared passions. “We own half of the same clothes, because we always go shopping together,” Aleksandra said, “We’ve been on a varsity dance team together for the past four years, and that just made us grow so much closer.”
Beyond their everyday routines, Aleksandra says that Olivia shows up for her when she needs it most. “When my parents got divorced, she was at my house every single day, making sure that I was okay,” Aleksandra said, “Just having her there for me, and having somebody to talk to and listen to me, it meant a lot to me that she was there for me, at the hardest time of my life.”
Aleksandra says that Olivia’s personality is what keeps their bond so strong. “She’s the sweetest person I think you’ll ever meet,” said Aleksandra, “She is the easiest person to communicate with, and everything always works out.”
From kindergarten memories to matching hoodies, Aleksandra and Olivia’s friendship has stood the test of time. After 13 years, the two remain inseparable – still supporting each other, still growing together, and forever CW.
