Did you know only less than 1% of swimmers can break 30 seconds in the 50 freestyle, and Krystian Radomski is one of them. Krystian Radomski, a senior high school student-athlete at East Leyden, is a student that enjoys swimming and being around his teammates. Krystian has a special place in his heart for swimming on the high school team. He says, “Freshman year, I thought this was a sport for me. JV was so much easier and so much fun with all my friends on it.” He played many sports growing up, and none of the sports really made him feel at home like swimming did. “All the friends I’ve made on this team have been with me all throughout high school. They make me a better person.” However, sometimes the swimming gets to him, and he thinks he might quit. “Ever since I joined varsity, some of the sides make me feel like quitting,” said Krystian, “but my friends are always here to help me stay on the team.” Krystian has a few sets he really specializes in, but the one he loves is the 50 free. He explains, “My favorite event is the 50 free because it’s quick and it’s fun to see my improvement.” Some of Krystian’s best memories come from the wins we get and the people around him. He says while reminiscing, “Coming home from an away swim meet wins is always such a good vibe with music blasting and people singing.” For now, Krystian’s swimming career is coming to an unfortunate end while he goes into college and thinks about his future. While he thinks, he hopes, “I’d go into trades. So I’d only want to go into Triton College to get my electrician’s license.” Krystian’s commitment over the years shows how dedicated he can become to something, especially for a passion he loves to do like being an electrician.
