First Competition for M.U.N.

On November 3 the Model United Nations club competed at St. Ignatius with other schools from all over Illinois.

“Model United Nations is a club in which students simulate the roles of actual members of the United Nations. They attend events that are modeled on actual meetings of the United Nations, so they discuss and debate the best ways to solve global problems,“ said M.U.N. adviser Jennifer Blevins.

As part of M.U.N. competitions, students are assigned to a topic that causes problems in a group of countries. The students research how the country will stand on the topic and go threw the debat process to figure out a solution.

Advisor Alex Jomarron added that 6 of our students took place in the competition which had over 600 participants from 30 schools.

The next M.U.N competition will take place in East Lansing Michigan on December 7th and 8th.
