Glee Episode Pays Tribute to One of Their Own

This summer Cory Monteith died suddenly on July 13 at the age of 32 due to a drug overdose. His fun night off in his hometown of Vancouver ended tragically.

E! News reported that Monteith’s autopsy revealed he had traces of alcohol and heroin in his system when he died. When those two substances are consumed together, the elixir slows the rate of everything in your body, eventually killing you.

According to Yahoo News, Monteith has had drug and alcohol abuse problems since his early teen years.

Freshman Weronika Tzaska, who watches the show every week, was on a vacation in Florida when she heard about the horrible news. “I can sort of see why he would abuse drugs because of all the pressure of the media and fame, but at least he tried fixing his problems by going to rehab,” Tzaska said.

He was first admitted into rehab at age 19 when his family and friends staged an intervention and it seemed like the best option.

Monteith had a troubled past which included attending 12 different schools throughout his life, which included multiple schools known as “alternative programs for troubled teens.” Eventually he dropped out at the age of 16.

Cory Monteith was best known for his role of Finn in the TV series Glee. He portrayed Finn Hudson, a football-playing, popular sort of kid. Finn’s talent was discovered by the glee club’s supervisor, Mr. Schuester, played by Matthew Morrison, when Finn was singing one day after football practice.

Because of Cory’s death, the writers of Glee needed to figure out what to do with the character of Finn Hudson. The tribute episode for the third episode of the fifth season will air tonight on FOX.

Senior Eric Monnet doesn’t really know how to feel about how the new Glee season is going to go.

“I feel pretty iffy about it because it’s not the best idea to honor the way he died. They should just focus on what a good person he was,” Monnet said.

Senior Alex Risolvo could not believe the news of Cory Monteith dying. “It makes me really sad that he died from a drug overdose. He was literally the last person I would expect to die that way because I wasn’t aware of his past drug problems,” she said.

Monteith also has a new movie coming out later this year called All the Wrong Reasons, ironically about a drug abuser and dealer.
