Make yourself available on Monday, November 10 because Chipotle is doing something great for Leyden’s Orchesis team. From 2 to 6 p.m., if you go into Chipotle and mention that you are from Leyden or show them your Orchesis flyer, Chipotle will give 50% of the proceeds to Leyden Orchesis. Prices stay the same, but half of the proceeds goes to the Orchesis funds. This only takes place at the Chipotle in Melrose Park, on North Avenue.

The more people Chipotle gets on Monday for this fundraising event, the better. Orchesis is a fine art not funded by the school, so they have to come up with their own money, and since students are no longer allowed to sell candy as often as before, it makes it very difficult to fundraise money. Luckily, Orchesis was given the opportunity to work and fundraise with Chipotle.

“We are not funded by the school,” says Ariana Flores, a senior here at East Leyden who has been on the team for two years. “We raise all of our money by ourselves. We raise it to get better benefits for this year’s team, and next years team. Orchesis used to be just a club, and Ms. Zeppetello has changed it for the best, Orchesis is now a fine art. Chipotle is going to help us raise money for our upcoming show, and anything we do after it.”

The money will be used for several different things. The dance team could use money for costumes to wear in their upcoming shows, pay for guest choreographers, buy beauty products for show preparations, and pay for field trips like ballets or other dance recitals. Another important thing that the funds will be used for is the end of year banquet.
