East Leyden’s Class of 2017

Getting involved and spreading school spirit is exactly the kind of thing Class of ‘17, which is exclusively for freshmen, does.

Class of ‘17 is a group of freshmen getting together to discuss what they can do to get involved and creating a growing sense of Leyden Pride.

As freshman Alysa Mapacpac put it, the goal of the club is “to do things that will make our freshman year experience the best as possible. Since the club does fun things for the class every year, it will hopefully make every year more and more exciting.”

Some students join the club to represent their class, but others, like freshman Paulina Cylwik joined to be involved in school events. “I heard that they take care of a lot of the events that go on in school, and they plan a lot of fundraisers, and I just really like to be involved in those sort of things.”

Speaking of events, the club has just finished selling Homecoming shirts and is planning on selling hoodies next.

Class of ‘17 “… is a really great way to meet and socialize with people that you might not have in your classes,” Cylwik said. “…it’s all just getting the school into the Leyden spirit.”

The club is still available to join if you’re interested, and they meet in room 265. See Ms. Wudel for further information.
