Wavy black hair flowing through the halls. Her smile that could light up any room, and her laughter filling the halls. Always wearing an adorable outfit that can allow people to easily compliment her. Jacqueline Sandoval is a senior at West who is proud to be kind and never afraid to communicate her thoughts and feelings as Ripple Effect’s co-president.
Jackie is one of three presidents for Ripple Effect and she talks about how she first got into the club and how she is as a person: “Everyone in the club is just really fun. We all get along, we all have amazing ideas. And last year when we did the table thing with activities for spirit week, that was really fun. Seeing everybody come over to our table, happen with activities, all of us being so happy. And it was, it was really fun. I think the definition of ripple effect is just fun.” Jackie loves being a part of the club and often reminisces about the club activities “planning for Kindness week and just be so excited to buy all the gadgets and stress toys to give out. That was so fun.” Jackie also feels like Ripple Effect allows her to be kind “ I feel like a bunch of people are always so negative in the world,it’s just good to be kind to people, because not everyone’s kind, sometimes people are just so judgmental, they don’t know what kindness is. You can make friends by just being kind to somebody. In life, kindness can get you a long way. It also opens up more opportunities to you through being kind,” Jackie explains, “if I don’t agree with you or things that you see I’m not gonna like this reason or disrespect you or anything. Because that’s not the way that I am or that I was raised up to be, I wouldn’t want somebody treating me bad just because they didn’t agree with something I said.” Jackie then proceeds to explain how hard work shapes her to be her very best self: “I always put effort into what I’m doing, and I always make sure to do my best. I always try to turn in everything on time. I take my time with things and make sure that I’m really learning everything, and not just like doing it, just to do it. There’s times where I do do that, but most of the time, I try to appreciate that I have an education, so I take advantage of it, and I take my time to learn and really work hard on what I do.”For now, Jackie will continue her senior year by being kind and leading the Ripple effect team to great success: “I love helping other people, because I know sometimes things can get difficult. I love just being helped to my friends or helping even strangers, simply just holding the door for somebody, that’s being kind, and that’s something that I do.” Jackie’s heart and kindness are as big as her success in the club.
